It was launched and consolidated as the Dr. Khoobchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana (DKBSSY), and in 2024 the state government renamed it to Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Swasthya Yojana. What changed: DKBSSY's rename
The Chhattisgarh government's integrated state health scheme was originally rolled out as the Dr. Khoobchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana (DKBSSY), bringing several older state health-assistance programs under one cashless-treatment scheme administered through a single portal.
In 2024, the state government renamed the scheme to Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Swasthya Yojana. Based on Chhattisgarh news coverage of the change and the scheme's own portal (which now displays the new name), this was a renaming rather than a restructuring: the portal address, the enrolment process, the empanelled-hospital network and the coverage amounts were not altered by it.
Who is eligible
Eligibility runs on ration-card category rather than a separate income test. Any family that is a permanent resident of Chhattisgarh and holds a ration card issued by the state's Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection department qualifies for some level of cover, and the level depends on the card category: Priority and Antyodaya (BPL-equivalent) cardholders get the higher Rs 5 lakh cashless cover, while other (APL/general) ration-card families get the Rs 50,000 cover.

How to enrol and use the scheme

Beneficiaries can check family and beneficiary status and look up the empanelled hospital list on the scheme portal, dkbssy.cg.nic.in. At the time of hospitalisation, presenting the ration card (or the e-card, once issued) at an empanelled government or private hospital allows for cashless treatment against the scheme's package rates, in the same manner as PM-JAY cashless treatment.
How it works alongside Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY
PM-JAY provides a Rs 5 lakh family-floater cover nationally, but only to families identified as deprived under the SECC 2011 database. Chhattisgarh's state scheme removes that restriction for its own residents: it extends the same Rs 5 lakh cashless benefit to all Priority and Antyodaya ration-card families in the state, not only the subset listed in SECC, and adds a Rs 50,000 cover for other ration-card families who would not qualify for PM-JAY at all.
Combined with a linked fund, the Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Sahayata Yojana, which can cover specified rare or critical illnesses up to Rs 20 lakh (gated by a government medical-college referral and committee approval), the net effect is that Chhattisgarh residents get PM-JAY-equivalent or higher cashless hospitalisation cover regardless of whether their family appears on the national SECC list — which is the specific gap this state scheme is designed to fill.
