Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY provides health cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalisation, fully funded by the government. This guide explains who qualifies and how to check your eligibility.
Who Is Eligible
- Poor and vulnerable families identified from the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 — about 12 crore families
- Rural families meeting at least one SECC 2011 deprivation criterion
- Urban families in the defined occupational categories under SECC 2011
- Automatically included groups such as destitute households, manual scavenger households and primitive tribal groups
- No restriction on family size, age or gender; pre-existing conditions are covered from day one
How to Check If Your Name Is on the List
- Use the National Health Authority beneficiary portal (the "Am I Eligible" tool)
- Enter your mobile number and verify with the OTP
- Search by your State and by name, ration card number, mobile number or Aadhaar
- If your household was selected under SECC 2011, it appears in the results
- You can also call the Ayushman Bharat helpline 14555
How to Get Your Ayushman Card
- After confirming eligibility, log in on the beneficiary portal with your mobile number and OTP
- Complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC and submit the required details
- Once approved, download the e-card (Ayushman card) from the portal
- Cards can also be generated free of cost at empanelled hospitals and Common Service Centres (CSCs)
